Welch’s Sparkling Singles
These concepts for Welch’s single-serve sparkling bottles range from close in to further out. The goal was to reach a younger audience by jumping into the growing trend of seltzers and flavored waters.
The first two concepts both take cues from the existing full-size bottle while adapting it for a smaller form factor. Concept One is a simple evolution of Welch’s traditional Sparkling brand, retaining the elegance and elevated look and feel of the type while mimicking elements like the foil-wrapped top and “gem” on the neck.
The second concept is a further evolution, taking many of those same cues, but pushing them into a more fun and casual direction. It utilizes more approachable typeface choices and font layouts, while retaining enough elements of the more traditional bottle that the two would still be easily relatable on shelf.
Both concepts eschew the traditional label sticker in lieu of a full bottle wrap, the lower portion of which is fully transparent to allow the actual juice to be used as a background element.
The third concept leans the most into fun and approachability. It utilizes large, simple iconography to highlight the fruit, and bright, bubbly color to stand off at shelf.
Welch’s Sparkling Summer
Every winter, Welch’s releases special holiday-themed packaging for their champagne-sized bottles of sparkling juice in order to let everyone in on the celebratory fun. They wanted to try and expand this idea into the summer, as folks gather for barbecues and fireworks shows.
The first set is an evolution of their Holiday-themed bottles, but replacing the single-colored bottles elevated script fonts reading “Clink,” “Fizz,” and “Pop,” with relaxing gradients and a brushstroke typeface tat evokes the feeling of vacation.
For the second set, I truly wanted to capture the vibes of summer. I chose to use a beach as a framing device, and a single summer-themed object floating on top of the water with both the object and sand changing colors for each flavor.
